Phil Reilly, a native of Loughrea, Co. Galway, began his soccer career locally with Loughrea Rams, Lakeside Celtic & Willow Park before earning his first professional contract with Manchester City. He later played for Stockport County in League 1 and returned to Ireland to play in the League of Ireland with Galway United and Athlone Town. Phil then emigrated to Australia, where he played for six seasons in the National Premier League in Sydney.

In 2022 Phil was the Head Coach of the Athlone Town Senior Women's team who finished runners up in both the League & Cup, before starting up Velocity 186
